Through our partnership with San Lazaro Coffee, your gift empowers women in Honduras through employment.
San Lazaro Coffee grows in the La Botija mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage site in southern Honduras. Historically, in this region, women would pick this specialty coffee yet be paid only a fraction of what men made. While eager to provide for their families, they would take the wage given to them. That is until San Lazaro Coffee was established in 2006. San Lazaro’s goal is to provide quality coffee, but their passion is to employ and empower women through the process. Today they are committed to their women managed and operated coffee farm in Honduras, providing thrive able wages―wages that bring their dreams within reach all while providing an unforgettable cup of coffee.
Catimor is one of the staple coffee varieties of Honduras. But we would NEVER bring you a common cup of coffee. To present you with its hidden flavors, our agronomists use an especially labor-intensive "natural process" by leaving the fruit around the seed while drying, allowing the fruity sugars to penetrate the bean. The result is an amazing cup with dark cherry accents and chocolate notes. If your palate is especially discerning, there is also a hint of plum. All of our roasted coffees are sealed with a nitrogen flush to expel all oxygen from its packaging. This prevents oxidative processes over time which diminish the flavor of your coffee. Your coffee and its flavor is protected, guaranteed.
