Unlike the majority of the tea industry, Alaya Tea buys directly from farmers—no middlemen or brokers are involved. This way, the farmers can get a higher price for their crops, reinvesting those funds into their farming practices and the people (mainly women) who work the land.
Awarded the 'Most Eco-Friendly Black Tea' by Bloomberg Green, this robust, dark, fragrant black tea is from biodynamic farms in the eastern Indian state of Assam. Commonly used as a basis for English breakfast and chai. Orthodox refers to rolled tea leaves. Whereas most tea bags offer broken tea leaves, the Assam Orthodox Black Loose-Leaf Tea are whole leaves that bloom in hot water.
